There is no reason to avoid smiling due to a dull looking smile. There are various teeth whitening options available to help brighten your smile from the comfort of your home, including bleaching trays.
What are Bleaching Trays?
It is important to know that “bleaching” trays refers to the process of whitening teeth and is not an indicator of the whitening agent being used. Bleaching trays can either be bought at your local drugstore or mass retailer, or you can order a custom tray from Dr. Sim.
Should I Get a Custom Tray?
Bleaching trays that are bought over-the-counter may not fit your teeth snuggly and can result in the whitening-gel leaking out and irritating your gums. A custom tray is created from molds taken in our office and help to eliminate the chance of the gel leaking out.
How Do Bleaching Trays Work?
The bleaching trays will fit around your teeth and will need to be filled with the whitening gel. You will need to use two trays, one for your upper and one for your lower teeth. Whitening trays, in general, require a longer application time vs. whitening strips. The recommended application time ranges from a few hours to overnight, during this time you cannot eat or drink.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Teeth bleaching is an easy procedure that is often painless. Some patients do experience sensitivity, but that usually only lasts during the treatment period. We highly suggest scheduling an appointment to discuss the options for whitening your teeth.
