What teeth whitening options are there?
Whitening Strips
Teeth whitening is done to help enhance an individuals white and bright smile. One of the easiest ways to help your teeth stay healthy and white is by brushing and flossing a couple times each day. Over time patients may feel like their smile has become dull and are looking for ways to restore its brightness.
What are Whitening Strips?
Whitening strips are thin strips that contain a peroxide-based gel. These strips are applied to both your upper and lower teeth, and they are used at home. Whitening strips are the most popular method for individuals to whiten their teeth at home, and they can be found easily in drug stores and large retail stores.
Bleaching Trays
There is no reason to avoid smiling due to a dull looking smile. There are various teeth whitening options available to help brighten your smile from the comfort of your home, including bleaching trays.
What are Bleaching Trays?
It is important to know that “bleaching” trays refers to the process of whitening teeth and is not an indicator of the whitening agent being used. Bleaching trays can either be bought at your local drugstore or mass retailer, or you can order a custom tray from Dr. Sim.
Laser Bleaching
Hoping to get whiter teeth but don’t want to deal with an at-home whitening regimen? Dr. Sim offers in-office laser bleaching that can usually be completed within one visit.
What is Laser Bleaching and How is it Done?
Laser bleaching is a whitening procedure that must be done in our office. The treatment will take approximately two hours to complete, and rarely require additional treatments at home. During the treatment, a hydrogen peroxide solution is applied to each tooth and then a laser is used to speed up the bleaching process. Depending on the desired results you may need numerous treatments, or you may need to use whitening trays at home as well. This procedure has a very high success rate and you should be able to enjoy the results for about two years if you follow the post-treatment care plan.
